Hughes County Ok oil activity 16 9N 9E

Hello everyone. My TS is 16 9N 9E in hughes ok Trying to find out if any activity going on? Was told I should be getting royalty payments but haven’t gotten anything? I don’t even know who’s drilling?

There is some production in that section, but your exact location with the quarter section would determine if you have production from the active wells.

You can search for wells by section in the OCC well record data base. Each well will have a surface location and a bottom hole location. See if the description matches you quarter sections.

Each well will have a spacing assigned to it. You only get production if you are in that spacing. For example if the well is spaced at 160 acres in the NW4, then you only get royalties if you are in the NW4, not the SE4.

You can search for active wells in the OK Tax Site also by location. https://otcportal.tax.ok.gov/gpx/gp_displayPublicPUNListSearchDownload.php

If you have more than one set of minerals, make yourself an excel or similar table or use pencil and paper and put each of them on a separate line. Look every one of them up individually and find out.

Looks like a probate list. Do you know how to read and interpret them? If not, answer back and I will walk you through it.

no i don’t know how all new to me

First you have to separate them into each set of minerals. Then you read them from right to left. Some of these look a bit wonky, so you may have to do some research.

I will do the first few for you so you get the hang of it.

  1. NW 1/4 Section 16-9N-9E, Except 1/2 minerals. (It should have read 1/2 minerals in NW4 … ) So you have half of the minerals in the northwest quarter of section 16-9N-9E. The northwest quarter is 160 acres, so you may have 80 net acres. That seems high to me, but maybe your family did not have that many relatives and it came down a straight title path.

  2. SW 1/4 Section 16-9N-9E. You have minerals (full set?) in the southwest quarter of section 16-9N-9E. Possibly 160 net acres. Again, very rare these days, but you can find out more.

  3. SW 1/4 SE 1/4 Section 16-9N-9E. (Oil, gas and Mineral Rights Hughes County Oklahoma) You have the southwest quarter of the southeast quarter so 40 acres. (SE4 is 160 acres and you have the SW4 of it, so 40 acres)

  4. 7/12th Interest-W 1/2 NW 1/4 Section 21-9N-9E. You have 7/12ths interest in the west have of he northwest quarter of 21-9N-9E. The Northwest quarter has 160 acres of which you have the west half, so 80 acres, but only 7/12ths of that which is 46.666666667 net acres.

Now see if you can figure out the rest of them.
5. 1/4 Interest- E 1/2 NE 1/4 and E 1/2 W 1/2 NE 1/4 and E 1/2 W 1/2 W 1/2 NE 1/4 Section 20-9N-9E.

  1. 1/8 Interest-W 1/2 W 1/2 W 1/2 NE 1/4 Section 20-9N-9E.

  2. 1/2 Interest-W 1/2 SE 1/4 and E 1/2 SW 1/4 Section 17-9N-9E.

  3. All Interest- W 1/2 SW 1/4 and E 1/2 SE 1/4 Section 17-9N-9E. (Seminole County, Oklahoma)

  4. 1/16th Interest- SW 1/4 NW 1/4 Section 24-8N- 6E.

  5. 1/18th Interest- W 1/2 SW 1/4 and NE 1/4 SW 1/4 Section 13-9N-6E.

  6. West Half of (NW 1/4 NW 1/4) 0f Section 21 Township 9N-Range 9E of I.M Hughes County Oklahoma,

Figure out the rest of these and then I will walk you through how to find any production.

Make an excel list of do it on paper.

How can i find out how many mineral acres i actually have?

Each one of the descriptions you have above actually tells you how many acres you have or gets you pretty close. Did you understand my explanation for the first one? You have to read the descriptions from right to left and do the math. Each section has about 640 acres. I am attaching an article about how the sections work in OK. If you can’t figure it out, come back and I will walk you through it.

First you get the general approximation of the acres from the descriptions above. Then you track down if you have any production and you can contact the Division Order analyst in each section to confirm how many acres they have listed for you.
