Okay, so here's the deal. Our grandfather left about 8 mineral acres in Hettinger County, North Dakota to each of his 12 kids, most who are already deceased. So now his grandkids need to file a Statement of Claim.....meaning probably over 20 individuals. Since the grandkids are not named in his will, should our family create a Family Trust (or some other instrument) to transfer/record the grandkids' names to make them the mineral owners of record? I think this would make it more likely for everyone to get a lease offer.....don't think an O&G company would want to take the time to work out a lease for so many mineral owners in just one section.
