You could always call the operator’s land department and just ask them for any updates. Sometimes you find someone that is happy to help and keep you informed when you call for updates.

Texas RRC office staff may have access to information which has not been updated online. I called about a well which for months had shown as having gone to spud but nothing else. It is helpful to have the permit number and other details handy.

Perhaps someone can provide commentary that will allow me to understand what is going on with a Continental Resources well in SEC 13 BLK A-56 PSL with a completed and paying well (jackrabbit 1308A 1-H) which has just had a new drilling permit issued. Does this mean the old well will just be turned off and a new well drilled ? The new permit (as of 4/ 8) describes this as a new drill, indicating total depth 300 ft deeper than earlier.

Jackrabbtit was still producing as of February. Continental has the Bullsnake 1404A 01H just about 1.5 miles west. Is that the one you are looking at? Rig onsite now in Abstract A-1728. Blue abstract has Jackrabbit. The new well is over to the west-long one 35067

Those are the wells I am asking about. I understand the new, 3 mile long in sec 14 is still being drilled. A real question I have is the new permit allowing a redrill of a well that is still in production in sec 13. It is not a barnburner by any measurement, but it is still generating a small monthly royalty payment. How do I interpret the new permit to drill an existing well still producing. when does the current production get turned off and the new drilling begin?

When you see amended permit, read the remarks and review all the attachments to see what is being changed. Compare to earlier permit forms and plats. The December 2024 remark notes that field is being changed per RRC recommendation - from Ruppel (Woodford) to Flying Dove (Miss) - and the TVD was also being changed. This is not a re-drill.

many thanks for the information ADS

Also check the API number for the new permit versus the original well. If the number is different, then it is a new well. If the number is mostly the same, but the last four digits change, then a change to the original wellbore.
