Hello. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction on how to find out if there is any oil/gas activity anywhere near the location where we own some inherited mineral rights (approx 1/2 a section in Carter County, MT). I have been searching online and cannot find any information. From what little information I could locate I have kind of figured there is not much going on in this area, but I would like to check just in case.
Melissa, in recent years there has been very limited activity in Carter County. There have been a few permits filed, (and a few? wells drilled?) in the neighborhood of Ekalaka. Though the County has been largely overlooked.

It is not the easiest site to navigate but there is a wealth of information there. If you find the map, you can enlarge the SE corner of the state, or specifically Carter Co, and see where wells have been drilled in the past, or where current permits might be (if any). If you haven't done so yet you might "add" the Carter County discussion. That way you'll be notified when someone put up a new post there.
