I have recently inherited 12.7 net mineral acres (NMA) located in Section 23-4N-16E, Pittsburg County. It is currently not producing.
Someone suggested to me that I try to identify my immediate “neighbors” in this section to see if they would be interested in adding to their acreage. Of course, I realize this isn’t terribly valuable acreage at the present moment, but who knows what the future will bring and perhaps someone would be interested in adding on. Question is, Is there a fairly straightforward way to find contact info for owners in my immediate area so I can approach them?
Thank you!
Go to okcountyrecords.com
Once there, go to Pittsburg county and down in the search, list Township 4, Range -16. . That will bring up all the documents recorded against your township and range in a recent time period.
Further, you could limit your search to “instrument type” being mineral deed or oil and gas lease. That will show you the mineral owners in the section.
Your best bet would be somebody in the section who acquired an interest in the section that doesn’t appear to be a family transfer. That means they are buying in your township and range.
(If you put in section 23 as well, nothing will come up.)
