My Grandmother has mineral rights in Mississippi. A company bought the drilling rights from Shell Oil and had the rights for 7 years - yet no royalties were ever paid. I have spoken to the company and they said they could not locate my Grandmother for payment. I asked for the details and now they say they cannot locate the transactions. How can I research this further? I want to know the activity and revenue for this 7 year period.

You need to research the County Records and find the transactions. Either that or pay a Landman to research them. Do you know whether she purchased the interests, reserved the interest in the sale of some land or inherited the interests?
If you have the legal description I will try and find out if any oil and gas was ever produced and, if so, by who.
