How to determine if wells have been drilled on minerals leased in TX & NM?

How can you find out if wells have been drilled on minerals that you have leased, particularly in TX & NM?

Go to the Railroad Commission Web site, and start searching.

What is your property description? Make sure to specify what state for each.

For Texas, the counties are:

Gaines: S/2 Section 276, Block G WR RR County Survey

Howard: SW/4 & W 66’ of SE/4 of Section 20, Block 33, Township 1 North, T&P RR County Survey

Yoakum: NW/4 & S/2 of Section 538, Block D, JHGibson Survey

For New Mexico:

Eddy: Township 25S, Range 28E, NMPM: Section 11: N/2 NE/4 & Section 12: N/2 NW/4

Eddy: E/2 NE/4 NE/4 SW/4 Section 23, Township 24S, Range 28E, NMPM

Send a registered letter to your operator and ask for drilling reports and status.

I did this and received a very complete packet. Now I have an email address and a direct phone number to simply ask what I would like to know.

Thank you! I’m not sure who all of the operators are since some of the minerals are leased by landmen who are working for others, and the minerals can be assigned to others. I do know several operators, so I’ll use your suggestion for them.
