How much land is need to start drilling?

I have land leased out in sec 17-144-100 (640 a) in billing county, I'm being told they (GMXR) can not drill on it becauce it is land locked and they need 1280A to start drilling, it is true?

17-144-100 is shown to be spaced with section 8 above it as a 1280 spacing. My source is the GIS server map on the NDIC O&G website. Use of the map is free, select the map from the left, then when the map appears select find section. Input your legal description, click zoom to section. On the right you will have filters you may apply, select Drilling Spacing and click zoom to section again. The 17-8 spacing and all the other spacings will be outlined in white, meaning no white bar between 17 and 8 so you can see for youself. The answer is....not true. Sometimes you have to take what people tell you with a 25 LB block of salt. I hope this helps.

Thanks.... I was told by GMXR that section 8 butts up to goverment land and they can not lease that property
