Just out of curiousity and think it would be a good discussion point for the board. For those that have multi unit/wells filed, how many wells have they drilled after the 1st one and were the results similar for wells 2, 3, 4 etc?
I have a lease where they drilled 3 more wells. Two came in much better one was about the same. If I remember right my acreage was at the end of the 3rd section. I think the rules changed and they were able produce closer to the property line.
The question needs to be narrowed down to state and county and reservoir. The answer depends upon the technology available at the time, the proppant and fluids used, the ability of the reservoir to deliver, pressure profile, spacing, etc. Some companies drill up their leased inventory and put one well per spacing to hold it and then come back and drill infills. Other companies drill their infills immediately. The parent well will tap into virgin pressure. Child wells may perform better if the technology is better, or they may be slightly to terribly worse depending upon how much pressure the parent well bled off. Also, the commissions may limit production to protect the reservoirs.
Question is a good one and companies are constantly trying to figure out the best solution for their acreage.
It was a general question for owners across all states and reservoirs. They can state their state and county if theyd like, just thought it would be helpful for everyone that has new horizontal drilling with the promise of multiple other wells to be drilled to get a look at whats going on with other owners. Of course it differs greatly by location, just thought it would be an interesting topic but guess I was wrong.
