How do I know Noble Energy is paying me all Royalties due on new wells?

How do I determine if all my Mineral Rights are being paid on all the new wells drilled and producing within the last 2 years? I have personally gone and taken pictures of them along with the Oil Name and number listed on the tanks. I don't get any direct answers and most are vague at best. Does anyone know ................don't they have my owner number at the tips of their fingers leaving that information immediate? I don't believe they cannot tell me that as they know every well drilled , permitted, producing or abandoned. I have been paid on several new ones but ...............there are MANY more. What happens if they are paying another interest owner my shares? Can anyone shed some light on how to protect my legal ownership of new wells? Thank you in advance for any suggestions :)

Hi Deanne,

I can't respond to your question as I am a novice at this myself, but I have possibly similar concerns about some wells my siblings and I have in ND. A friend who had worked in the oil biz told me of a couple of tricks some of the companies use to take advantage of those with leases. Here is the link to my discussion which mentions those tricks and may give you some possible things to consider. God bless, Van

I forgot to add the link which is: http://www.mineralrightsforum.com/forum/topics/how-to-determine-if-oil-leasing-co-is-cheating

Hi Van,

Thank you so much for your email. I will try to look on that web site now. Please keep in touch as I'm green on this site and still figuring out my issues with Nobel Energy. Do you live in ND? My brother is moving the end of the month to work up in Dickinson ND in the oil field.

Hi, Deanne -

If your interests are in Texas I can look up what your wells are producing for you.

I will need your legal description(s).

Hi Charles,

I sure wish you could :) my mineral rights are here in Weld County Colorado. But I appreciate your kind offer to help. I wish I knew how to calculate the spacing and so forth. Many have suggested I get an attorney. What are your thoughts?

Hi Deanne,

I am new here as well. No I live in Texas but our leases are in ND. As I said, I am a novice at this myself, but check my previous link to my description of issues I was concerned about.

Blessings!

Hey Van,

I did look up that discussion and I have an apt. scheduled with an Attorney that works with mineral owners and landowners. Her specialty is in mineral title opinions, surface use agreemenmts, oil and gas leases and agricultural law. So hope this will help with resolving answers to my questions.

Deanne

Deanne,

Do you have a legal description of the lands you own and do you know the total gross acres and the net you own? Did you make a lease with a company?

From that and production records we can determine an estimate of royalties owed.

Best, Brandon

Deanne -

I may have access to Colorado's records online in another month or so. If you don't hear back from me around then, feel free to tap me on the shoulder and we'll see what we can dig up.

In the meantime, try this site: http://cogcc.state.co.us/cogis/

You should be able to pull up production records on any wells that have been producing for at least a few months (there is typically about a 3 month delay in reporting).

As far as Unit / Pool Size and shape, you may need to contact the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and ask where those might be available online. Your decimal interest in each will be the number in your Royalty Division Orders.

One note of caution about consulting an Oil and Gas Attorney: The vast majority of their existing and potential income comes from the Oil and Gas Companies, not individuals like you. I would not expect them to go up against any company in too adversarial a manner.

Wells take a while to drill, complete and get hooked up to the system. Sometimes there are Title Curative Issues to deal with, New Divison Orders have to be drawn up and executed, all sorts of things before royalties begin to be paid.

Maybe giving them a few more weeks or even a couple of more months to get all that sorted out would not be a bad idea before spending any money on an Attorney.

Hope this helps -

Charles
