Pretty self-explanatory title. I inherited some land that appears to have a well on it now. Family knew nothing about it, but it looks like (from google maps and street view) that they improved the road to our place, but they put a locked gate on it. I need to gain access to the gate. How can I find out who to get in contact with in order to gain access?
JW, you may want to join the Roger Mills Co. group, and ask there. I just looked and there are 69 members. Some of the groups have people willing to answer questions and help, but some seem to be primarily made up of folks that aren't very sharing.
You probably are more likely to get a response if you elaborate a bit more. Is the property surface and minerals? If you have minerals, what is the leasing history (when and who, etc.) What is the Section, including tract or tracts,Township and Range? Good luck.
The operator has to have a lease sign by the gate close to county road and it will have a telephone number on it to contact them. If you give the section, township and range we can look up who the operator is and telephone number. They will put another lock on it so you can access your land. OCC can tell you who the operator is with telephone also.
You will need to search each well and move forward tracing the 1073 forms forward to find the current operator for your particular well on the your property or until you find a 1003c form which means your well was plugged and the search is over.
For example: Section 23-12N-26W, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma has the Lavena 1-23 operating in the NE/4, and was transferred from Newfield Exploration to Le Norman Operating. Phone # for Le Norman Operating is 405-548-1200.
