How do I determine what mineral rights my mom had

I didn’t even know my family had any mineral rights and my mom died this year. How can I find out what she had? My grandparents might have had it in their will or ???

How did you know or find out you had mineral rights?

Welcome to the forum. Condolences on the passing of your mom.

Depending upon which state you think the minerals might be in, there may be various online sites to use. The first place to look would be the state treasurer’s office for unclaimed funds. What state are you thinking there might be minerals? We can help direct you from that information.

I was contacted with an oil and gas lease offer.

Contact the County Register of Deeds where the minerals are located.

Depending on the state and county, you may be able to discover the minerals through land and/or probate records.

The easiest way to get your title information is to get in contact with the landman that made you the initial offer. He or she should be able to provide you with the title information that will speed up your research process. They may even be able to provide you with copies of the title documents. Contact me if you need help.
