Hockley Co Division Order from 1962

I have a Division Order from Pan American Petroleum Corp dated 1962. My wife is listed as the beneficiary of mineral rights in Hockley County, TX that were bequeathed to her by her father. Pan American Petroleum is now defunct. The Lease is described as “Levelland Unit, Tract 94, 40.7278 acres in NE/4 of Labor 14, League 28, Hood County School Land.” I would like to find out if there is any interest in this property. Thank you.

@Doug_W, not exactly sure what you are asking, but here is a map of the area of interest in Levelland, TX. The Levelland Unit appears to still be producing about a million barrels of oil per year and about a million MCF of gas per year. The wells are operated by Occidental Permain LTD (aka OXY).

May I ask how we go about confirming that she still holds an interest in the section? Who should we contact?

@Doug_W, at oxy.com there is a link to royalty owner relations. You can ask if they have an interest in your wife’s father’s name or in your wife’s name. If neither of them sold, then typically the interest would still be there. You can ask via mail, phone or e-mail and this does usually require some patience. County records could be checked for a previous sale or transfer of the property.

Terrific! Thank you.
