Help! Crazy loud gas compressors night and day on pads close to the house

How do I get some help

Jessie,

Where is the compressor station located?

Not a station, Natural gas compressor, On the Laurie oil well pad across our pasture on CR 335 in Lavaca county. About 150 yards from our house. With a southerly gulf wind we hear it night and day. Calls to the land man fall on deaf ears. We also have one to the east, they put a tin wall around that one. I’m asking for hospital mufflers. No such thing yet.

Is the compressor located on your surface? If so, then you might have more leverage to claim damages for diminution of value of your home due to excessive noise. Have you measured the decibel level inside and outside of your house? Also research what is a normal decibal level for gas compressors. You may also be able to raise issue of health and safety due to dangerously loud noise. Does the county have any law about noise? Or research to see if State of Texas has any laws and what agency might be responsible. Oil companies are entitled to reasonable use of the surface, but the issues here are what is reasonable near a house when you are talking about noise pollution.

Awesome information, thanks. Not our property just a very short pasture away. I will do the measurements and noise abatement research. I was thinking EPA noise polution at first. I’m trying to use carrots and patience instead of a stick, but slow going.
