Hello. Im so happy I found this site

Hi. I just found out about a week ago that I own mineral rights in Stephens County.

Does anybody else have mineral rights in or around Section 1 Township 2 North Range 4 West? I was offered 1000 per acre and 3/16 but the landman pulled out after only 6 days of letting me know. He said I was going to be forced pooled?

Any help would be welcomed..thanks

I have an interest in 1-2N-4W. They were to have the hearing this week, nothing to worry about. What name would your interest be under and I will look it up. Do you know how big your interest is?

The name will be in my mother’s.. Ruth E. Smith. There’s 3 acres and I was told I have a 4th in that.

I will look it up.

Thank you very much.

Our interest is in Section 16, 29, and 34 2N,4W but we’ve been watching drilling all around 2N,4W and if I’m reading the map right you should be right between two good wells that have been drilled lately. I believe you are the section just North of 12 that Newfield just drilled to (we don’t know exactly how it came out but they have set tanks and had the frac tanks out there the other day so it looks good). Also, I believe you may be just south of the section (maybe 36) in Garvin County that was just drilled by Cactus Drilling. They also have tanks set on that location. If any readers know that I’m wrong please correct me.

That’s a really good offer, I feel, so they must be pretty interested. Lots of drilling going on down there so “it’s looking good for the home team”! We leased all of ours for $500 an acre with 3/16 which we took right away (probably too quickly because others on this forum got more) and they are drilling on our Section 16, 2N,4W now.

These guys on the forum can tell you more about the force pooling but it sounds like from what they’ve said about it that it might be a good sign they are going to drill. I don’t think it’s a bad thing (it just sounds bad when they say the word “force”, doesn’t it)? Best Wishes!

Thank you so much for the reply Linda.

I probably should have taken the offer but I thought I had more than 6 days to think about it.

I’m new to all this and I’m trying to learn everything I can about it. Maybe I will get another offer before the forced pool or like you said maybe it’s not such a bad thing if I get forced pooled. I hope to get a chance to drive there and take a look at things pretty soon.

You’re welcome Tammy. I hope it helps. How far away do you live? We live southwest of the Lindsay/Erin Springs area so we go down past that area pretty often and will report if I see any work going on. It’s really been busy, busy, busy down that way with oilfield equipment keeping the roads hot! Good luck!

In my previous post I meant to say the Section in Garvin County where the other well is is either in 35 or 36. Either way they join your Stephens County Section 1, 2N,4W if I’m reading the map right.

Right now I’m up by the Kansas border, my husband works for a company that hauls water to and from drilling sites. I hope to get down there soon but not sure when it will be. Thank you for keeping an eye out for me. I’m glad to hear they are busy, busy, busy. Good luck to you also!

Tammy, you have more time than that. I’ll be right back I have something to finish and I’ll go over your options. You haven’t missed anything.

Tammy, in the pooling in Section 12, which is next to your section, Newfield was ordered to pay 1400 for 1/8th, 1200 for 3/16th, or 1000 for 1/5th. Any questions up to now?

So, Tammy, it sounds like from what Ron says that you will probably be better off if you ARE forced pooled.

So I guess I just wait for the forced pooling, huh?

Tammy, Ruth E. Smith on Memorial in Tulsa, is she still living?

Tammy, I don’t think anyone wants to stick their neck out to tell you to wait or to lease now. I believe they have said on here before that the risk is if you wait and then they decide not to force pool and drill. Then you wouldn’t get the bonus money for leasing but it sounds like to me they are telling you that the process has already started to force pool. Is that right, guys?

No she passed away in 09. Thanks Ron for looking that info up. That really helps. Linda thanks for the help also, and I understand what you are saying, and now I know if I do get forced it won’t be as bad as I thought.

Tammy, did she have a will?

There was no will found, and her husband outlived her by 11 months.

Who were the husband’s heirs? Did he have a will?

I’m sure he had a will. He had 2 kids and I don’t speak with them. My mother got the mineral right before she was married to him, but because she didn’t leave a will a share of the mineral rights go to him/his kids.

So there are three kids from my mom. We get a fourth each and the other fourth goes to him/his kids. That’s what I was told by the person that found me.
