Hello. In 2025 my siblings and I were sent checks for 5 years’ worth of working mineral interest held in suspense by Vital Energy. Our mother was the original heir and she passed in 1991. We were contacted by a third party to track us down. We were asked to send a completed W9 and the money was released to us. The amount was over $40k and after the initial payment, we received monthly payments from Vital and now from Crescent since the merger.
My question is regarding a sibling who had passed in 2023 and has 5 children so they should all be eligible for 1/5 of her share of the total revenue. While still under Vital Energy they sent in all of their birth certificates, a copy of their mother’s death certificate, and W9’s. They worked with Vital for a few months and told it was under review. After the merger, they were told all of the documents were shared with Crescent and they have been trying to bring this to resolution since that time.
Recently. they received the following: For Intestate Deaths: (If deceased died without a will/or unprobated will) furnish as many of the following documents as you have, file-stamped of record in the county clerk/recorder’s office where the producing property is located, as ownership is determined in accordance with the Laws of Descent and Distribution in the State where the property is located: HOWARD COUNTY, TX

I am trying to help them, but as a child of the deceased I did not have to provide any of this information, so I don’t have a clue where to start.
Is there someone that can help me to help them?
