My mom gets royalties on 10 acres in Howard county TX. Her royalty check was down substantially and when I asked Grenadier(The company that holds the lease ) about it they said there was an H2S gas found and they had to shut the well to do safely measures…Has anyone had this issue? This is all new to us just trying to glean information.

H2S is a deadly gas that can kill in a matter of seconds. They may have a leak from a gasket that needs to be traced and fixed. Often called sour gas. When I worked in some fields, we had to wear monitors and gas masks were onsite many feet away from the well Christmas tree “just in case”. Quite common in some West Texas fields.
