I have inherited some mineral rights and I have an old lease for 1987 by which it’s supposed to be still paying, but I’ve never received anything when I look on the map I can see in two of the sections I own. There are a total of eight drill sites six that are active two that are plugged. I don’t know if all the active ones are part of any payments. I should be getting if they’re different owners I’m so very confused. This is all in Pittsburgh, Oklahoma if anybody could lead me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
- Check the unclaimed property fund for Oklahoma and look up your ancestor’s name and yours. Also check the unclaimed property site for the state where your ancestor lived.
- If you can tell who the operator is, contact the royalty relations or owner relations and ask about payment. My speculation is they still have title in the ancestor’s name and haven’t been provided the docs showing transfer of title down to you. Just a guess.
- Depending on the inheritance, you may need to do a probate in Oklahoma.
