I’m sure Richard is about right on that. Seems like it would be. Hubby said Bryan Branch lives over close to there. Richard, do you know where his place is? It’s supposed to be on his land but a little further back west of his house.

Or you could go to the OCC electronic well data for section 14.

Those 6 wells are supposed to be new wells they are drilling now…all from the same pad I think I was told. That’s a lot of wells from one pad!

After looking at google earth it looks as though Branch would be in Sec. 13 4N/4W

Richard, I bet that is right. It’s suppose to be on Brian Branches place but I’m thinking they won’t name it that as we already have 6 Branch wells in Section 21 2n 4w. Maybe the Brian or named after his wife which escapes me at the moment. Saw her a Church Sunday so need to find out her name and ask her about the wells if she knows anything about them.

We saw them hauling a drilling rig south on highway 76 south out of Lindsay. Don’t know where they were headed but I liked the direction!

Marathon proposes multi-unit horizontal well in 4N-4W 31 and 4N-4W 30,vertical depth 12,262, testing the Springer formation. Been a long time coming. Letter dated Sept 24.

Bob, thanks for bringing the news.

Wells are usually named after the owner of the surface which may not be the owner of the mineral interest. Well names originally helped with identifying location. Old books refer to wells as being named after the farm on which they are located.

Yes, my Merit checks have been paltry too. I wonder if they consider plugging low producers. Probably get blocked by the OCC. My leases do not have a Pugh clause, allowing my participation in deeper wells. Do your leases have Pugh clauses?

Yes, Stephen, that is what I understand. The Branch wells on 16 were padded in section 21 2n4w. Section 21 is owned by the Dietra (sp?) Branch family (son named Jarod Branch). But the one over by the river is on what we believe to be the Brian Branch family so was wondering if they would name it Branch also. His wife is named JoAnn and they already have some JoAnn wells in 2n4w named after Bob Poteet’s wife named JoAnn I believe. So I was thinking they might call it Brian or ??? Lots of Branches around here kind of like Jones and Smiths. lol

Bob Walner, I wish they would do some drilling on sections 33 and 35 on 4N4W. Since Merit shut down their injection wells my royalty checks have been awful.

I don’t really know. I really do not know anything about the Pugh clause. I don’t remember ever reading about it in any papers I have. My luck will be I won’t be able to get anything out of the deep drilling and will be stuck with the tiny checks. Good grief.

The rig is still up on the south side of the Washita that I told about a couple of weeks ago. That’s the one on the Brian Branch land (I believe).

Brian Branch confirmed our suspension to my husband yesterday. That rig on the south side of the Washita is on his land. He said he owned the land but no mineral rights there. Lots of pipe in the derrick of that rig yesterday.

I lease to sunco for 3 yrs, that was in 1997. Been getting small checks ever since.

The clause read as long as the well produced, they own it. That cost me some big bucks a couple of years ago.

Anyone out there know anything about Merit Energy? Any rumors or tall tales?

There are several good attorneys in Pauls Valley (Garvin County Seat).

I have done land work for both of these:

Daniel Sprouse 405-238-3361

Brett Agee 405-238-1000

The most important thing I have seen done that complicates things in later years is putting the amount of interest owned on the deed. Leave out the amount and just say all right, title and interest in such and such legal description. This could save having to do a probate 20 years from now.

Hello all,

I am in need of an attorney who can move my parents mineral rights to a Trust. They are located in Garvin County.

Thank you very much. I’ll reach out to them and see if they can help.

Thanks Darla, I just spoke with someone from Agee’s office.
