You can observe qualified professionals (often with localized expertise) who provide services to mineral owners right here on The Mineral Rights Forum. You will notice them among 3 different instances on the site:

  • in display image ads and/or brief text messaging on site

  • in our Mineral Service Provider Directory in the main navigation above. These are arranged by professional discipline.

  • as a Business Member participating in many conversations throughout the site (note the blue colored “B” on their picture and blue text on their posts).

These practitioners are often able to provide the specific (and often localized) services that meet your needs.

We have been very happy with Rick Poland out of Norman, OK. He can do filings with any county in OK. He is very experienced and the oil and gas attorney for Mewbourne Oil. If you need any legal work, he will probably refer you to Rebecca (Becky) Patten, also out of Norman, who has been helping us too. She is also very good.

Generally, you won’t need an attorney from the county to help you there.

Ideally you’d want an attorney who:

  • first, is licensed to practice law in the state in which your minerals lie

  • second, is well versed with ample experience in the issue at hand

  • third, if they happen to be close enough to you for a personal visit if needed, that could be a plus (but this pales in importance to the first two)
