How do I find the location of the land that my family owns in Gaines County--Block A-21, Section 22? Also, what activity is occurring in Gaines County?

Judy,
I can't help you on the location question but as far as the activity in Gaines County, Texas: Google up--Drilling Ahead-World Oilfield Network/Forum. You can find out anywhere in the United States, every state, and every county, where and how many rigs are running. Also who the operator is, what contractor is doing the drilling, the rig #, how deep the well is going and whether it is a vertical or horizontal well. Very informative network/forum. Maybe someone else will come along and help you on the location question. Judy this information on this forum is updated every Friday evening. I think I noticed either 6 or 7 rigs drilling in Gaines County at the present time.

Judy, you can try the Texas Railroad Commission's site at http://gis2.rrc.state.tx.us/public/startit.htm. It's very slow and frustrating. I went on it and was able to find that there are 3 abstracts in Gaines County that have a Block A21, Section 22. They are A-1571, A-2019, A-2020. But I was unable to get the map to work. "Somtimes it do.....sometimes it don't"! I think your best bet, at least to start, is to call the Gaines County Clerk's office at 432-758-4003. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Then you may be able to use Google Earth from there.
Andy, Our abstract is A-1571--can you remember anything about the location of that particular abstract. I have tried the Railroad Commission's website and I can't get it to work. Thanks so much for any help that you can give me.

I was paid monies back in 1988 for some mineral rights in Gains county. My letter from Elmer W. Otto stated it s for SE/4 of Sect. 61, Blk. H, D & W Ry. Co. Sur., Gains Co., Tx. How can i find out if I still on interest in the mineral rights and if money has been put aside at the Rail Road Commission in my name. I would like to know if I can pass this on to my son in my will. I have other interests also in Mitchell co. Should I make a trip up to the 2 Counties to get the strait scoop or just call them?
