Have a working interest in a well that is in flowback operations currently. I’ve been receiving daily reports, but this is my first participation in a well, and don’t understand everything yet. But during drillout, it seems like 3 out of every 4 plugs are “no shows.” For instance, the report will mention drillout information for plug 32, but plugs 29, 30, and 31 are no shows. Is this a bad thing, something that just happens and doesn’t mean much in regards to the potential of the well?
That is correct! I was a drillout operator for many years! It just means that the plug was not set properly or that during drilling out the plug got loose and came to surface with the fluid! As long as the drillout rate remains the same, there will not be any problems with production as long as there’s oil, gas, and water in the drill stem. I never miss a plug; however, drilling rates change and the fluid will change also! I would not worry! Hope this helps? Good luck.
Appreciate the feedback!! Good to hear. I saw this for several days and finally got the last report today that said great test. Lot of learning curve on this for the non-petroleum engineers. Just the vocabulary and acronyms get to be a lot!
