Found mineral rights in unclaimed

We just found a well with my late mother’s name as owner in unclaimed property for royalties from Hess Corp. Hess tells me they don’t show the well or my mother’s name. I realize it’s in suspend and we need a lawyer to file paperwork so we can claim this.Has anyone had this experience? Was there more royalty checks being held?

There are two Ella Ida horizontal wells #1H and #2H and one BW-Thelma-150-99-3031H-1.

Did you find the money in unclaimed property at the state treasurer’s level? She may have all three wells. After a certain number of years of checks not being cashed, the operator will turn funds over to the state.

Chevron bought Hess and they are the operator now. They may be holding royalties in suspense at the operator level. The unclaimed funds at the state have already been turned over. Two different possible buckets.

We found one claim on SD unclaimed referencing the one Ellen Ida well and are also seeing the other two. This was originally my great grandparents Blanche and Helmer Dahl passed to my grandmother Marie Dahl Jacobson. We also just found two entry’s on unclaimed in her name for 15 wells in Williams Co.

Hess does show her as owner to several Dahl wells but not much activity there. Hess won’t talk until the legal deed is recorded which I understand. I really appreciate your response! Can I ask the lawyer to word it so we can capture any properties we may find?

Ask the attorney that question. There may need to be some probate or affidavits of heirship done. Once those are accomplished, then the operators will be more willing to work with you on what they hold in suspense. The state will need the title work as well for what is being held there.
