What do you mean by “forgotten”? You can secure mineral rights if you have inherited them and have clean title or purchase them. Clarify and we may be able to point you in the correct direction.
We have received several offers in the mail for the purchase of mineral rights, but the mail is addressed to the previous owner of our home who has been deceased along with his spouse for several years. This led me to search his name through our local appraisal district. I discovered several properties/minerals still listed under his name. The info on the appraisal district website also noted that mail was “undeliverable” and there was no known address.
I assume his heirs don’t know about these minerals and haven’t claimed them. Is there a process for being able to purchase/secure them.
The mineral rights would have to go through the probate or intestate process before being able to be sold. You would need to get an attorney’s help.
