After 8 months of continental refusing to send us anything pertaining to royalties I had to hire a lawyer to write a letter to try and get my families royalties… its been over a year since the wells have been pumping oil.
In the letter my lawyer is asking for interest, my question is how likely am I to get said interest, and will this finally light a fire under them to pay my family what they owe me?
If you have clear title, then likely to get the interest. If title is clouded, then may take a while to clean it up or figure out if you do not have clear title, then no royalties or interest. Time will tell.
As far as I know title is completely clear. Went through probate about two years ago to get the interest in mine and my cousins name. They’ve been aware of this multiple times before and just refuse to follow up. I’ve contacted them multiple times in various ways and they won’t respond.
Is this in Oklahoma? If so, has the probate order (probably the final order) that transfers the minerals been filed in the County Clerk’s office where the minerals are located in addition to a copy of the order being sent to the operator? That extra step is what gets the minerals into the beneficiaries name(s) as far as the title is concerned.
