Fayetteville schale

I have 246 acres of mineral rights that are currently producing.

What is being projected as to the years it will take to deplete these wells.

Also could there be oil under the natural gas.

Horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing have been used to produce natural gas from shale for less than a decade in most parts of the United States, so it’s difficult to estimate, but know that your production declines every year, and that in most cases at least 50% of a well’s output happens in the first 5-10 years.

No chance of oil under the natural gas. This party is pretty much over.

This is a pretty typical decline curve. Many wells are touted to last 40 years. Most of the declines I see suggest that the well will last 5-15 with 13 being a median. This well is in Township 8 North - Range 12 West, Faulkner County. This is 50 months, slightly over 4 years with erratic performance after about year 2. Typical. Two-thirds of the gas is depleted in the first 18 months.

There is no possibility of oil under the gas for all practical reasons. The temperature-pressure combination basically broke down all the deep oils into gases. Only the shallowest areas east of the Fayetteville basin remained cool enough to permit oil to remain. All the hydrocarbons are pretty much “cooked” out of the rocks near the Mississippian Embayment.
