Fayette County AL leasing

I inherited 32 acres that my mom had lease offers on back in the 80's and refused to sign. I believe the offers were for natural gas, but I'd have to dig the contracts up to be sure. I know I own the mineral rights because my mom researched them extensively at the time to make sure no one else could force her to have drilling on her land. Where do I start looking for a company that might be interested in leasing the rights now? How do I find out if they've already drained the area? Any pointers would be appreciated!

Thanks Rene! Much appreciated. I've managed to find someone to handle the timber but the mineral rights seem a lot harder to find someone to even want to get back to me. They take my info and I never hear a thing again. So thank you! :)
