My mother just got an offer from a company to buy the mineral rights of her property (2.8% of 20.25 acres) for $1,700. Is this a fair price or should she ask for more? If more, what would be a fair counter?
It really just depends on where your mothers acreage is located, however it seems as though this interest is fairly small so you might not have to much leverage here, but i would ask for $2,000+
Ask for more. I was offered $3,000+, but not considering now at this time as per advice from others. The reason being those minerals are obviously worth something if they are making offers. And to shed a little humor if you please, in this case…“Size does matter.” As referenced by the above replies.
