Three years ago, we leased with Centennial on property we own in Reeves County. The lease, which is non renewable, expired in less than a week. WE contacted Centennial a month ago to inquire as to the status. They informed us that they traded our lease with OXY some nine months ago. I talked to two folks at OXY who had no knowledge of the trade, and repeat phone calls to them have been unreturned. Not sure where to go from here. Any thoughts?
If the lease expires, then you are free to lease again. It would be best to get a release from the current lessee. Ask Centennial for a copy of the recorded assignment to Oxy which cites your lease. Then you can forward the assignment to Oxy along with a request for a release.
