Does anyone know if Expand has ever drilled even ONE Deep horizontal WESTERN Bossier/Haynesville well?
They have not drilled any Hz wells in the Western Fairway since that play kicked off with the Comstock / Aethon effort.
But they were probably behind the drilling of the super deep Augusta Yancey #1 “science well” in NW Houston County near Grapeland.
CHK has extensive historical drilling expertise in drilling deep, hot, high pressure vertical wells chasing the Bossier Sands in the Robertson County part of this play.
Plus CHK has an excellent drilling department that has seen just about everything.
All this being said, their chasing a position in the Western Fairway is not beyond their capabilities

They usually concentrate on the LA side of the haynesville. Right now they have one rig in TX running, everything else in LA and the NE.
Depending on how you define Western Haynesville (im using Leon, Robertson, and Freestone counties in Texas) Expand completed two wells back in 2023 although I dont see any reported production. APIs 4239532084 and 4239532088
Those two “completed” wells are actually expired / cancelled permits for Hz Austin Chalk wells in far SW Robertson county.
That makes a lot more sense, thanks for the color.
