Existing wells

Hello, recently became mineral owner and wondered where can I find information on existing wells in my section Twn range that may be producing so i can send them my information to be included in royalty payments. thanks for any help

Ann,

Looking at your profile, it appears that your interests is in Oklahoma. Some if not all of the information needed most likely can be found on the Oklahoma Oil and Gas Commission website.

Charles,

thank you for the info. I tried pulling up exsisting wells on OOGC website by putting in the section, twn, rnge & quarter with no luck. I dont know the API numbers either, because I dont know what wells if any are on the property. I will possibly call the OOGC and see if they can tell me. thank you I will post what happens

Ann, if there are any wells in your section, they will be found at this link - http://imaging.occeweb.com/imaging/OGWellRecords.aspx . Open it then enter the Legal Location. Then check Exclude ECM (unless your minerals are in the Panhandle). Then drop down to Scan Date and use today's date in the last field. If you leave the beginning Scan Date field open and click Search, you will see EVERYTHING in the OCC system that has been scanned for that section. You may wish to limit the search to a more recent date if the section has been heavily developed over the years.

On your first search, as you begin researching your minerals, leave the Form # blank. Later you may want to limit to specific actions. Some of these are: Form 1000, Permit to Drill, Recomplete or Reenter; 1001A Spud Notice; 1002A Completion Report; and 1073 Transfer of Operator. There are other forms, but these are the ones which will probably be of most interest. You may want to look at the surrounding sections also.

Another resource is “Basic Information for the Oklahoma Royalty Owner” Last Revision - September 2012, (Oklahoma Corporation Commission) found at http://digitalprairie.ok.gov/cdm/ref/collection/stgovpub/id/241683 . This is really helpful, especially a new mineral owner in Oklahoma.

Wesley, thank you so much for the info. I was able to get quite a bit and now can do some research. you helped me a great deal.

Your profile shows that you are based in Oklahoma, according to me the best idea to get engaged in royalty payments is by contacting the companies in local which are extracting minerals. I states like North Dakota, here oil extraction is on large scale, some extracting and petroleum engineering companies are helpful like http://jpepetro.com/, http://www.ch2m.com/corporate. Similarly in Oklahoma area, there might be some big extraction consultants that might help you.
