Drake Exploration Files Their First Leases In Leon County

Drake recorded 18 lease memos in Leon County on June 6. These are their first filings in Leon.

The leases cover 14,059 acres in 14 surveys bordering on Houston and Anderson Counties:

And now things are getting interesting! Drake has obtained leases in two large tracts in which Vanna also has leases! Each of them has leases with multiple mineral owners (but not the same people) in an 8,500-acre tract and a 1,500-acre tract. Will be interesting to see how this gets worked out.

Has the battle for acreage between Mitsui and Expand (Chesapeake) begun?

Great info Alan. I really appreciate you sharing on the forum. I have learned several things from your posts. I have some minerals that I have inherited in the area and would like to keep up with activity in the area. Where do you find documentation of these new leases? It would be great to be aware of these new leases.

Thanks

Most counties have online access to their Deed Records. I look through various county deed records daily looking for new oil/gas related filings.

Here’s a link for the Leon County Deed Records:

where could I get information on the Northwest part of Houston county, I used to check things our on TRRc, but its been at least 5 years since I looked at that website and I know there have been changes. Is the an easier way to navigate that site?
