I inherited gas over ride royalties from my dad. Unfortunately we never discussed what I was to do when he passed. I have the division orders and a will. The gas is located in Palo Pinto Texas. Dont know where to start to get them changed over. Do I need to go to Palo Pinto to see copies of the filed deeds. Is this a neccessary step. Im lost. Need advice.
You need to send a copy of the will to the operator of the gas well.
Thx

I forgot to ask, but was the will probated?
Its being probated currently but the executor and I dont see eye to eye on the language. Therefore I may need an estate attny.
On the language of the will? In general, the intent of the testator is what is paramount. However, wills are often contested for a variety of reasons. Among a few are that the testator was unduly influenced by one of the family members or beneficiaries, that testator lacked the mental capacity to make a valid will, etc...
If you are planning a contest of the will, don't worry about it, you will need an attorney.
If something about the language of the will bothers you, but there are no legal grounds to contest it, also do not worry about it. You will have to live with it. An attorney can advise you better on that. No legal background is required to dispense advice here.
Appreciate the guidance. Any help is greatly appreciated.
