DOI royalty interest changed

We’ve inherited multiple mineral interests. My family created a new trust, of which I’m the sole trustee, and recorded the legal docs with the county Dec 2018. I’ve informed (via certified mail) operators of new ownership with copies of recorded documents. I have not signed DO yet as I’m still researching mineral interests to make sure I can verify what we own (I’m down to 5 boxes of papers from 17).

Now we’re getting checks from an operator with different Royalty Interest decimals than my father had been receiving. How do I remedy this? Jane

Contact the operator by certified return receipt mail. (Keep copies of everything). Show them a check from your dad with his decimal on it and show him a check copy with your decimal on it. Also include the owner numbers which are on the checks. Ask for clarification as to why the decimal amount changed. Ask them for a copy of the paragraph of the title report which supports such a change.
