I’ve been approached to lease deep rights for an interest in Ward County with wells currently operated by Continental. A landman from Continental made the original introduction to a seemingly legit leasing operation who made the offer However, when the contract was sent over the Lessee listed was Balmorhea Resources, LLC. Does anyone know anything about them?

How do you know that the first landman is actually employed by Continental? It is not normal for an employee of the lessee to introduce you to a separate company to lease your minerals. Balmorhea Resources LLC was formed in November 2025 and its agent is a law firm in Fort Worth. It has no recorded leases in Ward County. However, there is leasing of the Woodford formation, below the Wolfcamp by a number of companies, including Continental. You can ask the landman to tell you who he is representing.

Thank you for your comment. The landman introduced me to the leasing company rep. I was unaware of Balmorhea until the contract arrived identifying it as the Lessee.
Review your existing lease to see what depths are open. Is it below the currently producing formation (such as below the Wolfcamp) or below xxx feet below the depth of the horizontal lateral? Do you have a release of the deep depths? If part of the Wolfcamp is open, then that is more valuable for a lease bonus. You may want to see if Continental wants to lease.
