Do I need a clear title (deed of ownership)

I inherited royalties from my father. I have signed paperwork regarding heirship with 2 different companies that have wells on the land (one has shallow, the others are horizontal).

What do I need to do as far as legal ownership of the mineral rights - actually have a clear title to these? Is this something I would need a landman or attorney for and if so, where do you locate one?

Land is in Harrison and Doddridge County West Virginia

thanks

I would recommend reposting this in the specific County and State thread. You will get a lot more specific direction to West Virginia’s laws.

Phillip, you should visit with a couple of probate attorneys in West Virginia. Be sure that they understand that you are dealing with minerals.
