Is Kirkpatrick involved in any reworking of prior wells in Dewey County?
Welcome to the forum.
I see two active permits for Kirkpatrick in Dewey right now. Robbins 1-28H (recomplete) and Evelyn 1-17H (recomplete). They have two others in Major County, one as a recomplete and one as a new drill.
I think they are reworking our well - The Hatter. I can’t find any information. The Corporation Commission website is very different now. Not user friendly.
There are many Hatter wells in OK. Please give the section, township and range. In Dewey, there is the 1-33H (INACTIVE) and the 1-34H (P&A). Kirkpatrick has the 33H. What information leads you to think they are reworking it? I do not see a new permit. Is there a workover rig on site?
It is the Hatter 133-H. We were leased two years ago by another company out of Edmond. I got a letter from Kirkpatrick recently regarding offered leasing terms. I called the prior company and was told by them they sold the lease to Kirkpatrick and that they were reworking it. We are still under lease for another year so the leasing terms did not apply to us. I can’t find any information about what is going on - if anything. I just thought I’d reach out.
I could not find a permit to recomplete (yet). You could call Kirkpatrick and ask, but they may not tell you anything. The current well is listed as inactive, so they either need to get it going in the next year or give you a new lease.
I got notification that they are doing a recompletion on the Hatter 33. Then I got a notice of a hearing to vacate drilling and spacing. Order 78308 Morrow Sand. Applicant recommends the amendment of this order. Cause No. 2025-003105. I think they want to reduce the spacing to 160. I tried to call the landman associated with this - Bearcat - but got no call back. I have no idea what this means. The hearing is October 20. Section 33, Township 17 N, Range 14 W Dewey County.
The original spacing was at 640 acres which is the normal spacing for a section for a horizontal well. Case 2025-002801 requests a pooling with the Morrow spaced at 160 acres for the SE4 of 33 and keeps the spacing for the Chester at 640 acres for all of the section.
The original well was permitted for the deeper Woodford horizon and was productive until 2014. They are trying to come uphole in younger formations and see if they can recomplete. Case 2025-002485 gives the predicted perforations in the Morrow and Chester.
Thank you. I was confused about vacating the entire 640 in the Morrow only and then requesting 160 spacing. I knew the original well was in the Woodford. It produced for a couple of years and then there was an issue with too much water. I was thinking they would rework the well in the original zone of the producing well. Apparently, I was wrong. Thank you for this explanation.
