The House Ways and Means Committee has announced that they will have their tax reform package completed sometime between Friday October 27th and Wednesday November 1st.

You don’t need to be fancy just say something like . . .” Our family receives royalty payments from the oil and gas production on our property. We understand that you are making decisions about tax reform and what will and will not be maintained in the tax code. Our family depends on our royalty income and the one federal tax deduction (percentage depletion) we are allowed after paying severance tax, state and federal income tax, property tax, state and local taxes. So I encourage you to maintain the percentage depletion deduction for oil and gas in its current form.”

If none of these are your Representative PLEASE call as many as you can and say that your Representative is not on the Ways and Means Committee but the tax reform issue is important to you as an oil and gas royalty owner and you want the Committee Members to know that you are counting on them to maintain percentage depletion in the tax code.

Man I had no idea this was at risk too. Between losing property tax deductions and this, they will really hit Texas middle class hard. Tax cut my @ss.
