Default on Oil Lease

I have sent out the default notice on my lease. The lease states that the leasee has 15 days to bring the lease default back in order. That time has passed for over 30 days. Now what do i file to get my lease back. The property is in california. Please help.

Hello Mr. Jon Brandon,

Am I correct in assuming you are stating that your lease term has expired, and thus has gone into default mode due to this? If so, the lease has expired under it’s own terms, and thus nothing necessarily needs to be done. You own the minerals or mineral rights, and they are technically “open” for leasing. If you want to write a demand letter demanding a release letter from the Lessor, that’s ok to.

Thank you Reagan. I will have to demand a quitclaim of the lease to be clear.
