I own minerals and have leased them, in the Foss Lake area and I know they’re drilling the Mississippi and working their way east from the Hammond/Elk City area. I’m receiving unsolicited offers to purchase my minerals. Best offer so far is $3,700ac.
Question: What are completed wells producing on recent completions?
We need a section, township and range in order to answer. Be cautious about offers to buy. There is an emerging “Cherokee” shale play and you need to understand what is happening. Offers are likely to be low to actual potential value.
I’ve already made up my mind that I won’t sell my minerals. It appears that the typical monthly bop is around 800bbls per month. So, working the numbers you’re at about $385mo per acre based on 3/16ths. So they’re looking to pay you for about 10 months production. I wasn’t born last night. The oil patch is notorious for crooks.
I would like to more about this potential shale play.
Welcome to the forum. Always better to put the more exact location into your body of text with section, township and range. Easier to search that way.
Foss Lake is in 13N-19W. There are at least five two section horizontals on the north side of the lake-some drilled, some drilling and a few more permits. You can look up the wells on the OCC wellrecords site and look for Form 1002A for completion reports. The production can be found on the Oklahoma tax site.
If you type “Cherokee shale play Oklahoma” into a search engine, you will get the basics.
Section 29 has an old inactive well. I do not see any new leases there, but do see some in the surrounding sections. Quite a few in 33. Quite a few in 35. Good thing about horizontal is that they can have a surface location in another section and then go under the lake.
