Seems to me like every industry anyone can think of ought to be relocating to West TX. Smart money goes to where there is cheap local energy. :cowboy_hat_face:

Mineral owners need to pay attention to bitcoin mining and make sure they are getting paid on that gas usage.

@M_Barnes that’s an excellent, excellent point.

In new leases it is a good idea for royalties to attach to bitcoin, crypto currency, blockchain, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), or other data services or electricity generated from mining operations.

How would we know if our minerals were sold to bitcoin mining? Does this already occur in Texas?

Bitcoin mining uses “stranded” gas mostly from oil wells or if there are no pipelines for new gas wells. Your operator may be “selling” the gas to the crypto miners. It is fairly hard to find that information. Yes, there are already rather large mining operations going on in Texas, OK, ND and other states. If your gas is being sold, then you are supposed to be paid. Sometimes it takes a drive-by to find out. If you have big 18 wheeler trailer(s) parked near a well head with a generator going and a satellite dish, then time to contact your operator and find out what is going on. This is an emerging industry, so not as regulated for ease of finding out what is going on.

Learn something new every day. I see a good amount of code 4 on the rrc production query. Would there be any clues on the Texas CONG? Don’t have the option to do a drive by. Does anybody have any good satellite image sources?
