County mineral tax assessment

I am a first time mineral owner (Midland and Upton). How does a county go about their assessment for determining value for mineral tax purposes. Note: The wells cross the Midland (60%) / Upton(40%) county line.

The value they assessed my wells (all new wells) seems to be high as compared to the income they are producing (2021).

Can I protest the values as an individual or is it up to XTO to protest.
If I can protest what kind of documentation would I need to prove my arguments.
