Comstock announces the Texas Natural Gas-Fired Power Generation Hub in Anderson County Texas. This is a $16 billion project!
This is the same gas-fired power generation facility that I posted about four days ago. Comstock’s involvement has not been clearly stated yet.
Comstock is supplying the NatGas for the facility, thus isn’t the Mitsui deal, but it is the NextEra deal Comstock announced several months back, from my understanding anyway.
In my uneducated opinion, I find it doubtful that Comstock is the only supplier!
The construction of this power plant is being funded by Japan. It is one of the first three projects resulting from the trade deal that President Trump negotiated with Japan. NextEra will be the operator, but it is unclear what Comstock’s role is. Perhaps they will be the preferred provider of gas for the facility, but it would seem unlikely that they would be the sole provider.
It is possible that Comstock has offered some sort of gas pricing deal, perhaps a hedging arrangement. Maybe some details will be released soon.
Their next quarterly report may shed some more light on this situation. But don’t be surprised to see a “hush hush” approach.
I still think JJ / Comstock may be behind the NextEra effort in some capacity.
