Completion time

How long does it take for a well to be complete after fracking?

It depends on the number of wells being drilled on the same surface location, but generally about a month for frac to first sales if there’s only one well.

If there are multiple wells on one location, it could be a couple months as all of them are frac’d, drilled out (most frac methods leave a barrier between stages that needs to be mechanically removed), and brought online since you can only do one at a time due to space constraints. Some reservoirs also benefit from sitting and “soaking” a little after the frac, which could also add some time, but usually only 2-4 weeks if any.

If you’re inquiring to know when the payments begin, also know that some wells only produce frac water at first so it may be another month before sales begin (though we always hope for instant oil ).

According to the railroad commission, one of our wells are active and have been producing since August 2019. There has been significant amounts of oil produced. It also says that it hasn’t been approved.
