Compensation

We had a piece of land in Shreveport that we thought we had transferred ownership to in 2002. It has now been revealed that the act of donation was not done in what is called an authentic act. It required that the donor sign in the presence of a notary and two witnesses. The lack of an authentic act results in the donation being a nullity. With that in mind my question is that in 2008, when everyone in the neighbor got payments during the Haynesville Shale phenomena, were we entitled to some payments since we technically still owned the land?
