I am trying to help my 90 year old mother-in-law with Compass Management. She is the sole heir of the mineral rights. Her significant other was in poor health with dementia and making purchases. Some companies were sending checks & mailings directly to him. We contacted those companies and 4 companies have transferred ownership. We only stumbled across Compass Mangement/Noble name because there was unclaimed money in NY & TX for the decedent attached with their company name. The 4 companies we had been in touch with happened before we contacted Compass. Compass Management is now saying that we shouldn’t have contacted companies and had accounts transferred. Compass states they have over $18,000 in suspense and initially said it would cost $12,000 to transfer. Now they are saying since we have been in contact with 4 companies and had the transfer complete that Compass cannot complete the account transfer. Can anyone advise how to proceed or what attorney we should contact?? I have requested a copy of the agreement Compass had with decedent as well as what holdings they manage several times, but never get that information. What a dilemma!!
