I can never get through to Chisholm. Now we have a letter telling us our account has no activity (for a well we had no idea existed) and that they owe us $ and send this form in to avoid being reported as unclaimed funds to our state & to respond by 10/1.
It is so frustrating. Any suggestions?

The letter is most likely legitimate. This is the time of year that operators are required to contact mineral owners to let them know they are holding funds for them. A lot easier to get funds out of the operator than the state. They probably need a W-9 and your correct address. Send it by tomorrow! In the letter you send, ask for the net acres that you own, the royalty and what lease holds the acreage. It was probably from an ancestor or an address was lost due to a move.
