Has Chesapeake actually drilled in Converse County? If so, where? Has any drilling resulted in oil/gas production? Thanks for the information.
Chesapeake has drilled numerous wells in Converse County; too many to list, but many of them are producing and are in confidential status, mostly in the South and West ends, but are slowly moving to the North and East. Go to this site; then to Permits to drill; then in the first box, scroll down to Converse County; then in the second box press Oil & Gas Only; then type in a range of dates, try 01-01-2011 to 02-22-2012. You should come up with not only Chesapeake, but every other company that is active in Converse County; this will give you the date of the permit application, the location, whether it has been spudded or not, and if the well is listed under Confidential Status but it has been drilled.
Thanks Fred. Do you know where the closest successful well has been drilled by Chesapeake to the property located at Section 23; T37N; R68W? a/k/a T37N; R68W; 6th PM, Section 23; SW/4 NW/4 SW/4 W/2 SE/4 SE/4 SE/4. Thanks.
Chesapeake has several wells pretty close to you. All under Confidential status! Township 37 - Range 68 - Section 34; Township 37 - Range 70 - Section 29; Township 37 - Range 70 - Section 27; Township 37 - Range 69 - Section 27; Township 37 - Range 69 - Section 26; Township 37 - Range 70 - Section 25; there could be a few more, but those are all fairly close to your land description! With your being in Township 37 - Range 68 - Section 23; looks like from somewhere around 3 miles to maybe around 18 or so; would have to get a map out to see for sure but the one 37/68/34 - and your being in 37/68/23 are real close! If you go to the above website and follow the instructions up there you will see there are a pot full of wells permitted in Converse County to various oil companies.
Hi Fred,
I’d like to visit with you about what’s going on in your neck of the woods. I’m a landman working in Weld County and Converse further south. If you’re interested let’s exchange contact info. Best, Will
Good morning Will! Always interested in information! We have 2563.86 mineral acres in Northern Converse County, mostly on Township 40 - Range 68 - have a few acres that are just outside of 40, 68, but all is in that area! Chesapeake has about half of it leased and the other half is available. If you know anyone interested in that area would appreciate a heads up! My brother has another 280 acres available in that same area.

Hi Fred - Good to hear from you - I’ll shoot you an email
From the website provided below it looks like my leased mineral rights are in confidential status with Chesapeake.
Township 32 Range 70 West
What does this mean?
Confidential status is usually applied to a new well that they do not want to release any info on! Wyoming gives them 6 months before they have to release any info, but, according to a source close to the source, there are several options open to them to keep it in a confidential statue for much longer!
So am I assuming correctly that if it is in confidential status it must be producing something? If this is the case, do you know at what point that Chesapeake would notify us?
