Change of status on 289-32200 A-64 in Leon County
what does it mean? thanks
The new symbol designates this well as a shut-in well. It is very normal for a horizontal gas well in Leon County, Texas to be shut-in during the early stages of life. It happens frequently, here are some reasons.
- Waiting for pipeline connection. Waiting for frack crews or addition wells on the pad. 2. Flowback finished but facility not ready ( gas treating units and measurement equipment. 3. Market/ Price timing ( not likely in this case ) 4. Safety or pressure testing.
This well was the first of the 3 that went in. The one that my property is pooled on is the last one (28932213) that went in. I had talked to the pipeline crew a few months ago. They said the pipeline should be ready before the end of the year, and that this was one section of 3 that were being put in. At the time I thought the pipelines were running west because of the pipeline construction signs along Hwy 39, but that appears to have just been for the water lines that have now been taken back up. The pipeline runs northish, it appears. I drove along CR 317 recently and the pipeline that crosses that road, and you can see the rig for 28932213 nearby, has been buried. I was given a production date for my rig of next April. Anyone have more info?
My best guess, and I am no expert, is that this well ( 289-32213 ) might go to sales in August, 2026.
The well I have been waiting is also “shut in” and has been since June. According to Comstock Owner Relations, they have no ETA on when it will be placed in service. I believe our was a issue with high H2S numbers.
Why August? As I said, Comstock told me they anticipated a production date in April of 26. Would that be different than sales date?
I only said August because I believe the spud date was July or August, 2025 and it takes at least a year. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I am interested too!
Yes Rhodes, I read about that. Hopefully that is not the case with this well. BTW, will you give me the abstract number to your shut in well? Thanks.
Hi rrhodes I am curious, did you receive your division orders prior to the shut-in status? Hutto TMM hasn’t gone to sales and not produced yet. Thanks
John, not sure if production date and sales date is the same thing? Check the spud date, that will help. Good luck.
Comstock’s usual practice is to file a Well Record Only Completion Report when drilling has been finished but the well has not been frac’d or completed yet. The well is listed as shut in in that CR.
They will then file a second CR after the well has been completed and the 24-hour test has been done.
I am just a layman with financial interest. But I have a friend who owns a gas drilling company (he does shallower wells in other parts of the state. His timelines were much shorter but it may be due to the different types of wells and location. As I had said, Comstock told me when I emailed them that production was estimated for April of 26 and I was wondering if that was different than sales date as that is a long time from April to August.
I received my D/O in late August, so after it was shut in in June.
The well is located on Thomas Toby Survey A-883
Do the Haynesville Wells in the far Western area of Leon Co. more prone to have high H2S #'s than those father East?
