Change of Operator paperwork

Hi Forum! I received a notification that my Contango properties in Payne County were acquired by Great Horned Owls, LLC. The interest percentage is the correct percentage.

Here is my question:

Is there anything else I need to include other than the signature pages, W-9 and Direct Deposit forms that I need to send to this company, as well? Should I send my original lease, which was held by White Star, then Contango and now Great Horned Owls, LLC?

Appreciate any advise and other cautionary measures prior to returning this form to Great Horned Owls, LLC.

Thank you!!

Be careful of signing these documents. My family also received the same Division Order etc. from then when we just signed a new lease in December 2025 in Dewey County OK. I posted a question to the forum last week. I am suspicious that this all may not be legitimate.

I would make sure that the direct deposit form does not have a clause about claw back if they make an error. I do not want any company in my bank account. Personally, I would not send back the direct deposit form until after you have received a hard paper check. Then you can decide to do it.

It is not recommended to sign a Division Order in OK as you may be giving away some of your mineral rights. You can use a “letter in lieu” instead and reset the minimum payment to $25. Use the magnifying glass at the top to search for a template letter that I posted a while back.

Received this as well for several counties. Sent Letter in Lieu (thanks, Martha). We’ve already dealt with Energy Back Office Solutions who handles GHO’s division orders and they were great. Won’t miss Contango AT ALL, as far as our Working Interest goes. Their accounting system was garbage.

Hello Martha -

Thank you for the information. When I pulled up the “Letter in Lieu’“ that you previously posted, I looked up the Oklahoma State Statutes (which were updated as of November, 2025) online to determine what the exact statute said. I did not find the statute reference at all for Title 52 O.S. Sec 750.10(B)(3)(c) or the Title 52 O.S. Sec 750.10(D) in any of the Oklahoma State Statutes. OKLAHOMA STATUTES

Please advise and thank you for all your helpful information!

Hello again Martha! I think section 750 might be section 570 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

It may have a typo. I will check. Thought I fixed it.

No worries - got it figured out!

Thank you so much for pointing this Out - Our Great Horned Owls ACH says they can initiate adjustments for any transaction credited or debited in error - THANK YOU -

Should this same approach be used for this same company if the division order is for Arkansas?

Is there any way at great horned owls, LLC to get a real human? Martha pointed out to not have a claw back on the account for overages, so should I cross the wording out or speak to a human (which I called 2 days ago and no answer yet). Couldn’t they just take it out of the next Royalty Check? Help.

This company don’t know what they bought. One of my wells they have listed on my neighbors property. One of my farms the well hasn’t been products for several years and the lease isn’t valid. I email them a week ago, but not reply. Don’t sign anything as they don’t have it together yet.

Thank you Pflum - I will sit tight for the moment.

Try (806) 665-8441, Energy Back Office Solutions in Pampa. Real humans answer the phone.

Thank you Christine!

We received from great horned owls, a division order, we were with Devon Oil back in 2015, not sure if it’s starting to produce again, what happens after signing the Division order, do they send a new lease , with lease bonus, or is this being pooled

Great Horned Owls purchased wells. Everything “should” stay the same. No new leases or pooling at this point. Make sure that the Division Order decimal matches the decimal on your checks that you received from the last operator.

Printed out the in lieu of, and also will request paper check, fill out W9, so since 2015, old lease should be no longer active, so after they purchase wells from Devon or contango , are they the ones to send a lease bonus and royalties

If you were already getting revenue in the last few months, then it will switch over to the new operator once they get the DO or the letter in lieu with the W-9. No new lease bonus for those wells.

If the wells have died and the leases expired, then anyone can lease you again.

I think we got a payment back about 2018 , not sure if I should sign division order , looked on paper work from Devon Oil it said I didn’t sign Division order , not sure what happens if don’t sign division order
